yesterday i was able to read the forums here without registering

today it forced me to register

is this some oversight on my part, surfer recognition thing (can't be cookies as i crush them) or new board policy?

if i hadn't been able to read the forums without registering yesterday i wouldn't have bothered - i think forcing people to register to read the boards puts them off and will keep traffic low

(love yabb btw - i'm used to vb, but this is much nicer)

Since December we had only allowed guest posting, someone turned it off, i turned it back on.

Reason for this?  I don't mind guests posting if they make some effort.  Usually the guests only show up for help, demanding immediate help, and provide no contact information and not to mention, some of them abuse the usernames they can use...

Hmm... could it be so that users can browse the board but they can't post or do anything more without registering?

That's how I think it should work.

Hmm, I tried to access the board from school and before I did anything it said I need to register.

I just logged out and was forced to log in or register before I could do anything.  I don't think the board has been that way for ever.
