I need some help. MySql info is right, but it tells me diffrent

Hey,
It's been a long time since I've been here, but anyways:
I finnaly got my site upgraded, and now I have MySql. So I logged in to the control panel, added the database callled, "bmxweb", and created a user called, "bmxgrind". Now, I go to the installer, I fill in all the info as it should be, and I get this error:

Cannot connect to database server with given data

I know all the info I put in was correct, and I even tried my ftp username and pass aslong as my control panel name and pass and still no luck. What am I doing wrong? I went to phpmyadmin and clicked on bmxweb and it has a text box and above it it says, "Run SQL query/queries on database bmxweb "
Should I put something in it or something? I'm tottaly new to MySql, this is my first time using it also. Anyways what am I doing wrong here?

your password or uname for this db is wrong! ask your host if they can help you!

It cant be. I just emailed my host to see what was wrong. I tried my name and pass like 20 times, still nothing.

does anyone know how to create a new user/pass for mySQL ? i have my own control panel, but dont know what to do with those things,

 in mySQL part I only see Create a new table

 can anyone tell me how ?

if your db´s are on a shared mysql server i guess you can´t change it!

I just had a similar problem.  The installer would create the tables and insert the default data and settings with no problems.  When it got to step 8, it would then fail saying: "Access denied for user...".

I finally tracked it down to the password having a $ in it.  After I changed the password, it worked fine.

In phpmy admin click on home, the in the right hand pane click on users.  Find the user bmx grind and look at the permissions.  If the appropriate priviledges aren't set, either click on the GRANTS link, and grant them permssions to the bmxweb database.

this is not possible on a shared mysql server...!

Ok, my name and pass is right, and my host logged in and created tables, whatever those are, and told me it should work. Can someone please install this for me? I'm sooo clueless on what the hell to do. I guess my mysql is shared or wahtever because none of that stuff was in phpmyadmin. Should I create the tables or whatever before I try to install the script? Or will it do it automatcily?

Are you sure that php is linked or compiled with mysql.
It must be, php cant connect to mysql if it isnt
