I can't upload my archive.ya file!!!

I'm a newbie, I admit it! But seriously, I'm working with tripod.com wich works with php BUT everytime I try to upload yabbse.ya it hangs! Is it the server? Please help!

Btw, does www.tripod.com have MySQL? God, I am sooooo lost...

first of all lycos (tripod) is not recommended cause the lots of restrictions! i guess it would not work property!

another thing is that tripod has a "safe mod" server, so you can´t use the *.ya files, you have to use the safe mode version of yabbse!

ok, I just downloaded the safe version... one problem: I can't get through step 4: upload the files in ASCII into folder x and the files in BINARY into folder x. Please help, I have no idea of what this means!

Btw, mediman do you know of any free server better than lycos? thanks!

Use an ftp program to upload the files and you can select either ASII or Binary. WS_FTP PRO is the tool I used.

thanks Zippo! I downloaded ftp pro 8.3 but... I can't connect to tripod.com... is that not an ftp site? I tried both with www.tripod.com and with mysite.tripod.com... same error: can't connect to ftp server even though I put my account name & password correct! Help!

If you are trying to use tripod, I am sorry to say this but honestly you are fighting a losing battle  As far as free hosts go, I tried them all that were 'recomended' and had problems with them all varying from connection problems to actual usage.

Honestly, you will enjoy using YaBBSE much more and quickly  if you invest in a shared host  package.

If you still want to try and connect I will help you but I promise you it will frustrate you even more to just be abe to 'look' at the first page and do no more as I did.

So tripod is that crappy huh... the thing is, I always thought that if I was gonna pay, it might as well be my own domain! But, if you know of any cheap, good,  shared servers, go ahead & post!
