Problem with installation - step4

I was wondering if anyone could help........

I am trying to install Yabb SE, but cannot get past step 4. After I enter the hostname, username, password etc for MySQL and proceed with the installation, the browser hangs for a long period of time. My CPU power lags also, to a point where i have to reset my Linux box. My username and password is correct, because it works at the MySQL prompt via unix. Am I missing something?? Do I need to install a bugfix??
