Install problem on step 7

Sorry for the double thread, I didnt see this board the first time around.

Anyways, the problem is that I'm installing this thing and then after I try to set the admin settings it gives me this error:

Warning: Failed opening '/apache/htdocs/yabbse/Settings.php' for inclusion (include_path='.; \apache\includes;\apache\htdocs\;\apache\htdocs\phpmyadmin') in C:\apache\htdocs\yabbse\install.php on line 390
Error: No Database Selected

I have the latest versions of both mySQL and PHP, and a recent version of Apache (not sure whether latest or not.)

This is on my home, win32, system.

I find it both rude and terrible that there have been 4-5 different devs on in the past 3 hours and not a single one has responded to either of my threads.

I find it rude and terrible when people assume we can monitor every single thread.

There are a lot of people asking for help - what makes you feel that you deserve special dispensation.

Also keep in mind that when were online we're not necesarily focused on the boards.  I know I flick in and out monitoring specific topics while I strive to fix them.

Get a grip, get a number and hold your horses.  It's not that we're singling you out for evasion - we're just busy.  This is poart time work.  If we were getting paid to sit and solve your problems, yes, you'd have a valid complaint - but otherwise, no.

----------------------

Now, regarding your problem.  I assume you're using the regular installer correct?  Is it correct that you entered your settings, clicked the button, got a message saying the settings were saved, clicked the button, got a screen to setup the admin account, clicked the button THEN it crashed?

If so, what I'd like you to do is this: on the screen where it says "Settings.php was modified successfully" just pause for a minute, and use an FTP account to see if it is there, and if it was indeed modified.  Also, it's possible that because of a server configuation th file is being saved, but not with sufficient permissions.

If the file IS there, and it WAS modified correctly, can you make sure it's chmodded to something executeable - like 755 or 777 to be sure.

And make sure you don't have a weird include path set in your PHP.ini, I've seen it a few times lately...

And I apologize greatly, I was in an extremely bad mood yesterday (for other reasons) and I shouldn't of taken it out on you guys, I'm not normally like that. Please forgive me.

Now on to the subject at hand.

I'm using the normal installer too, you are correct in what I did, and I have checked settings.php it was all set correctly. I am running on a windows 98 machine, so permissions aren't an issue here.

I will check my php.ini settings, I'm going to try to install it on a computer here at school, so we'll see about that, and if it doesn't work I'll check the php.ini files.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the work you guys do, please forgive me! :)

Ok, well I've just dived into the world of Apache recently, so I don't know everything about it, here is the includes of my php.ini

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; Paths and Directories ;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

; UNIX: "/path1:/path2"
;include_path=".:/php/includes"
;
; Windows: "\path1;\path2"
;include_path=".;c:\php\includes"

I'm on windows and php is installed in c:\apache\php\
My htdocs is c:\apache\htdocs

EDIT: What I'm asking is that what should it be set too?

Could you please check to make sure that when it reaches that step, Settings.php does indeed exist in that directory?

If you change the install path in your INI to blank, does it help or no?

Ok, I fixed it, and here's how:

In php.ini I changed this:
; Windows: "\path1;\path2"
;include_path=".;c:\php\includes"

To this:
; Windows: "\path1;\path2"
include_path=".;c:\apache\php\includes;c:\apache\htdocs;c:\apache\htdocs\yabbse"

Thanks for the help, and expect me to start modding and helping out very soon! :)

EDIT: Found my second problem, in the install path I needed to make it C:\apache\etc. I also needed to add c:\apache\htdocs\yabbse\Sources to the paths part.

So now I'm ready to mod, lol. :)

Thanks again,
AJ
