In 1.3.0 what is the news_template?  How do I modify its settings, b/c I dont see it listed anywhere under my ADMIN center

it's the template file for the news feature.

It's similar to the SSI.php stuff - it allows you to post the first posts from threads of a certain board on your site's main page.

news_template is the template used to specify how each of those posts are shown.

I'm sure someone can post a link to a working example -I don't know one of the top of my head.

Look in the Bugs 1.1.0 board, I believe there is a sticky post there with instructions and I do believe a read me was packaged with 1.3.
