I had serious connection problems with my YaBB SE forum and they started all of a sudden saying that can't connect to the database etc.

Now the support of my server said that using mysql_pconnect command could cause these problems and that I should use mysql_connect instead. So could this be the problem why I had problems with my forum? Does YaBB use persistent connection?

We do not use pconnect and I strongly suggest to any PHP programmers NOT to :)

Yeah, I thought so after going through the PHP files :) Other thing was that the support said that you should use mysql.isp.com as my MySQL server. I have set that in my Settings.php. The support said that using localhost could cause problems. So does anything in YaBB use localhost even if I have set the mysql.isp.com into Settings.php? Or do I have to change settings to mysql.isp.com anywhere else than Settings.php?

All you have to do is change localhost to your address in Settings.php

Ok, thanks. I will forward this information to my ISP's support.
