Would be nice if this would not indicate the full amount of messages you have, just the new ones. That way it would be easier to keep track when you have new messages. If you have lets say 20 messages and keep getting them quite often its hard to remember have you read the new messages today.

It WILL be in a future version of SE but I still don't see why people need this type of thing

I always know what I have in my IM and I probably get many more IMs a day than most

But it does serve a purpose and will be part of SE.

Hehe, great. Well, not everyone needs all the features of this board but that doesn't mean they aren't useful =) That's one great thing about this board, lots of cool features.

you also have to keep in mind that we're working off a port, and the current db structure doesn't allow for it.

That's fine by me, of course. The IM feature is something I have noticed and some of the visitors of my board have asked about it.
