Linebreaks? Notepad?

Okay, I just upgraded to 1.1, which went very smoothly.  The main reason I did is so I can use template.php and an "insert" function to put my standard page banner in the template.  I've used the admin editor to change some aspects of the template, but once it's php, I'm back to the notepad/ftp trial and error loop.

Here's the question:  does the editor do something funky to the linebreaks or something?  I'm really at my wits end because the template seems totally trashed.  I can ftp it to my computer, and even open it once in notepad, but after the first save, it all scrunches onto one line.  Notepad gives up after a pageful with no linebreaks, as does wordpad.

Am I doing something stupid?  I don't know how to make this thing usable again.  It's the craziest thing.  I hit save, then an instant later it's all hosed.  I mean, I don't even need to close out and read the saved file, it scrunches up the current one just because I saved it.  What's the deal?

in 1.1 using the adminCP template editor only edits the template.html file and not the template.php... it was a small foul up.

Is it?  I found that I can put php statements in the template.html and they work just the same.  Maybe because it's getting embedded in a php file anyway?  I have no idea, but the statements run just the same.

Any idea about the linebreak issue though?

Try using a tool like Editplus or Textpad...
