BoardMOD with YaBB SE!!

This morning talking with Alan about BoardMOD 3 i had an idea: why not create a dummy 0 byte YaBB.pl in my SE dir so i may use BoardMOD 2.5?

These are the results:

it works in all functions!!

I'm converting news.php in a mod then i'll post hitcounter 1.0 and a complete tutorial.

I have been talking with Godai, and I will release News.php early tomorrow morning (my time of course) for everyone to get their hands on it, but the only catch is to use BoardMod! But News.php will be included with the new release by preinstalled, so once the new release is out, you won't need to modify anymore for News.php.

About DB editing: a simple script you may personalize will be published with the tutorial.

with examples too

in english, what does this mean for the simple end user? are we to scrap Matt's Package manager for BoardMOD? Is it as easy to use as the BoardMOD for the other yabbs? (as in click click upload?) do all of the current mods need to be rewritten for use with BoardMOD?

XXL is doing a new boardmod version that searches index.php instead of YaBB.pl so it may be used with YaBB SE.

The actual mods must be rewrited to use with boardmod (just like Y1G mods) but the packman will not be abandoned, we should use boardmod until the packman will be well tested and coded.

It shouldn't take CV long to transfer it to SE compatible. I mean its practically the same anyway.
The PackMan won't be abandoned. If even in the end, it will be used to get bug update fixes etc. from the SE site. All in all, the BoardMod will be a help to mod writers. It's more flexible. Especially if some sort of YaME addon is with it (like BM 3)

At least until that time, you can use standard BoardMod 2.5 with YaBB SE, by just making a blank text file and calling it YaBB.pl and placing it with all your other YaBB SE mai files (eg. index.php, SSI.php, Reminder.php, Settings.php)

The News.php script is ready for deployment for both BoardMod and BoardMod SE (once released). Get it while it isn't included with YaBB SE.
