Hiding email addresses

Problem Description:
Can anyone tell me how to setup our board so that hide email address is automatically checked for new members? Because of the child protection angle, this would be a good feature

Automatically checking the option won't stop your members unchecking it later. If that's all you want, it's not difficult to do but, if you really want to take the email addresses off the public parts of your forum, I've previously posted a way to do it at http://www.yabbse.org/community/index.php?thread=26160!
