Problem Description:
I need a little help.

How would I allow my users to see the moderators forum listed on the main menu (index.php), but not give access when clicked on, to anyone but moderators?

This is not possible by default, but I would check the completed mods board to find a mod to do this or suggest it in the mod suggestion board if one doesn't exist yet.

Hello,

I am very new at being a forum adminstrator so I set up a catagory and board just for my mods...and none of them can see the catagory and board because I restricted it to just adminstrators and global mods...so I am having the same trouble :o

May I ask what solution you found? is there something I can add to my forum to address this issue? Thank you.

Set up a new category *and* a new user group, make the category only accessible to admins, global mods and that user group, appoint all your moderators to that same user group and set up the restricted access board(s) in that category.

Ran into a similar problem recently.  You'll need to make sure they're assigned as global mods on their profiles (the user group drop-down menu is near the bottom of the profile).

Sorry, but that's all wrong unless you want them *all* to be *global* mods! Please read my reply above.

Look for the "Allowed User Access" mod. It will grant you the ability to restrict access to boards (not categories) by user. Making it visible, but not accessible... invisible... or password protected. It comes in handy :)

You'll have to do what Peter said, but here's a little more detailed instructions on the matter. (I would strongly advise against what NaturalStateReb suggested... making all of your mods global mods is not very safe!!)

Go to "Edit Membergroups" - create a group (call it whatever you want, mine is called Moderators) Remember that this group has nothing to do with post count, global mods, moderators or admin. It is simply a group that has a similar name.

Go to "Edit Categories" - make sure your moderator category is accessible by Admin, Global Mod and <your new group name>.

Go to each board moderator and edit their profile. Just like when you made someone global moderator, make your board moderators <your new group name>. This will give them access to your private category, without making them global moderators, and still leave them board moderators.

Good call Peter ;D

Sorry, misread the post.  I thought you wanted them to all be global mods.  You could assign them to different usergroups.
