Php Newbie can't get Admin status

YaBB SE Version: 1.4.0 or 1.4.1
PHP Version:
MySQL Version:
Server Platform: Unix, Linux, or BSD
Link to Forum: http://www.freewest.net/yabbse/

Problem Description:
Hello - my apologies, I hate to be that annoying newbie but I am not familiar with PHP, nor in fact much coding at all, and I have spent hours upon hours researching how to get admin rights on my yabbse bulletin board in order to create new boards/categories, but to no avail. I even downloaded an admin restore suggested elsewhere here, but as I never had admin rights in the first place, it didn't work.  I installed it off CI Host and they refuse to offer any support for Yabbse on their helpdesk when contacted. Can someone please help?

Get away from CI Host as FAST as you can.  Trust me, they are going down faster than a sinking ship.

Create an account, a normal account.  Once you've done that, use the Admin Restore tool to fix your account up.

Douglas: I am trying to make the yabb board work, for a friend of mine, who also is on CI Host. so i am having the same problem. Can you elaborate on your instructions here? Where do I create this account and where do I find the Admin restore tool? Thanks.

If Douglas says run from CI Host, I'd recommend ordering plane tickets today.

Trust me, you won't want to be on CI Host within the next year, if you want more information, go search on www.webhostingtalk.com.  You'll need to browse the general discussion to find out about them.

Douglas: Thank you for the information. I will check the site you mentioned. Who would you recommend for my friend? She is not rich and just has a small web site, but would like a stable server. But in the mean time, is it still possible to let me know what to do with her situation. Appreciate it. Thanks again.

Lewis Media (they host YSE), CharlottezWeb, Intrelix.com, DFrisk.  The last three posted in the hosting forum, those would be the guys that I would go through if I needed a web host.  I would put myself up there, but my prices are not low, since I am not geared towards the experienced web owner.  :)

If you have a request, post it in our hosting forum, or on WebHostingTalk.com.  Word to the wise:  Cheaper is NOT always better.  TRUST me on that, ESPECIALLY when it comes to WHT.com
