problem staying logged in.

I installed my SE board as the above post suggested.  I installed. 1.5.3, and then converted my Gold board to SE.   I have found a few problems, only one is a concern.  When I type in my user name and pass and then hit enter, it logs my in but as soon as I click on a link... it drops me back out to a Guest.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?

You should check the Cookie FAQ in the Other Help board.  (I think.)

Check your cookiename... make sure your server's time is right... etc.

That cookie FAQ is a nightmare.  It is not commented on by any of the developers.  Just people who have found ways to work around the actual issue.  God... if I would have know this.. I would have stayed with Gold.  It is pretty important for members to be able to Post... on a web forum.  If they cant stay logged in, it makes it really difficult to do that.  Please... can someone who knows this software really well tell me what I need to do.   If I click Always stay logged in, then I dont have the problem.  But I do not want to have to tell every person to do that.  I would like SE to log in correctly.

Thanks in advance.

Rob

I am one of the developers and I wrote some of that "nightmare" FAQ.

A URL would be very helpful.

I must now publicly say a very big I am sorry.  I just ran across the real cookie FAQ.  That is well written and gives great advice.  When I was refering to the "nightmare" above, I was refering to a thread under another board.  Sorry.
