Heh, if you restrict it to admins or mods, then the normal members would just reply with a TTT to do the same thing  ::)

Why don't the mods / admin just make the thread sticky and be done with it?

cause that's very different...

the bump is to bring back the topic when it's lost between the old topics, in other pages of of the forum, but not to keep it at the top of the board ALL the time

IMHO, this would just encourage bumping - as if to say that it's okay.  At least on my forum, it's quite an offense... and if you do it to often you get to say good bye.

I've personally never liked bumping and have never done it myself... my members don't do it either, thank god, so I'm not planning to make it easier for them

I can understand that someone may want it in his forums though, I just won't install such a mod in mine :P

The only way I can see to do this is to change the posterTime of the last post.  But if that is the case, it would modify the time to be some time other than the time that the last poster posted. (crap.. did Dr. Suess write that?)  I don't think that would be the right thing to do.  If I was the last person to post something, and then two months later someone "bumped" it, it makes it look like I posted to a old topic (something that can be lloked down upon)  Just some thoughts.
