Quote of the day Mod - Please help to make it

I was looking for a script to put the 'Quote of the day' at my website. Then I thought that it is possible to do it as a MOD in YaBBSE.
Maybe some coder will help me to make this little dream come true  .
Here is idea:
- We create a new forum in which we will introduce all MOTD's. I mean, we create one new topic for each Quote, we put in the subject the Quote an in the body the meaning/history/comment of the Quote.
- Now there is a function that reads all topic's subject of this forum and randomly select one of them. We invoke this function from our main PHP page and... ¡WOWO the quote of the day!
- And clicking on the quote we are redirected to the topic

I think it must be easy to code it.
Any coder wants to try it?

You could pretty much just hack up news.php and add a little random script into it and you'd have it done.

This is done. Polishing and getting feedback from hprod, then I'll release it. (Though the mod was so easy to do I think YaBB SE gets the credit)

Hi Metho,
it would be possible to make quotes showed ordered and not ramdomly? I mean, that only one (the same) quote is showed all the day, and next day the next quote, and so... and when it arrives till the end then begins from the beginning.

Are you saying that you want it to randomly select one quote each day, and display that quote for one day and then randomly select another the next OR are you saying to select a quote by post date (like start at the oldest), display it for one day, and then select that is next oldest?

Maybe it would be better to give the the two possibilities.

Yep, yep. I was thinking about that. I'll think I'll extend it to choose the quote by several methods. I had originally set it to random because in your first post you said 'randomly selects'. I'll start making the changes after breakfast.

Actually, haven't even had a chance to work with it. Been busy with two jobs and wedding plans. Work is lighter this week so hopefully I'll get something whipped up with this in between my other stuff.
