After converting YaBB 1 Gold to YaBB SE you can't search the posts, which is a known issue.
Is there a solution? Kind a reindexing the database to enable fulltext search?

Well, I thought it is ;)
Anyway, it's not working and I'm sure I read others reporting that, too. Must be a problem with the full text index in the database... I reindexed the yabbse_messages table for full text search manually, without success. That's why I'm asking ;)

So it doesn't work because why? You tried a search and it returned nothing?

Actually, i just solved the problem ;) I redinexed the database with myPhpAdmin and now it works.
Before that, the search did not return any results, no matter what you enter for maxdays/maxhits.

I have the same problem.

I'll try to find out how to re-index the database with PHP MyAdmin and see if this solves it.

I would be very interested to learn how to "reindex" (whatever that means) using phpMyAdmin to sort out the "can't search converted messages" problem too!

(I do have phpMyAdmin loaded up and working, but knowing how to use it is another matter...)

  • First, locate your database in the dropdown list on the left side.
  • Select the yabbse_messages table (replace yabbse_ with your prefix, in case you changed it)
  • Now you'll see the table struckture. In the last column you see "fulltext". Click on the "fulltext" link in the "body" line. This will reindex the all message bodies.
