Newbie - Cannot make Directories

Hi, first time post.  I have a Win32 host, running PHP 4.3.1, mysql enabled, mysql database ready to go. PHPinfo says safe mode is off.

the installer apparently cannot make directories, here is a clip from the install screen:

Any ideas?

Ask your host to give IUSR_BLAH permission to create directories.... or make them yourself.

Create directories and diferent errors show on install.

Yes, do a safe mode install.

Uhh... attachments won't work unless you bother your host about permissions.

Whoo boy, still no go.  Filled with errors like:

Bother your host.  It's your only option.

I doubt much would work in the way of PHP on the server the way its permissions are configured .

Can you tell me the changes to request from the host?
(I hate to sound like an idiot  )

And do I need to delete all tables from the mysql database and start fresh.

I figured out what I need to request from the host - eg write permissions.

Even though sql tables have been created - OK to just re-install?  Or do i need to delete tables and start from scratch.

Just ignore the errors it gives you when you install again... it'll complain that tables already exist, etc.
