Offline browsing?

Hi,

MAybe a stupid question but here it is.  :-[

When using Yabb SP 1.1, after you browse some topics, when you go offline (disconnect from internet), you can still browse the topics you did before from your hdd cache.

You can't do this in Yabbse.  I think I can say it's because of the database system and not using plain text files.  Is that right? Is there a way to let browsing offline?

Hmmm.  After this post I tried this on a vbulettin and a phpBB board. And they let me browse offline. Since they also use database,  it should be something else.   ???

Ok some more steps,  I found a Yabbse board that lets offline browsing.  On the other hand this board we're in does not let it.

So the question is what should I modify?

I would imagine that it may have to do with "Disable output caching" in "Installed Mods Preferences and Settings" in the admin area. That should not be checked.

Just a guess though...

Hi,

Thank you but "Disable output caching"  was already unchecked. I even tried checking it.  It did not work.   :(

Hi again, sorry to bump this topic up but some of my users are asking why this is not working on my forum.  I can tell them it's the way this forum is but I don't want to sound like an idiot if there is something to do.

So please tell me something?  :'( :'(

PS: It works on this Yabbse board.  (File > Work Offline)

Try unchecking "Enable Compressed Output" in "Installed Mods Preferences and Settings" - Depending on the specific browser you're using, it may or may not make a difference (although it shouldn't really make a difference)...

Used to work on my board before upgrading to 1.5.1. That one from the showcase is a 1.4 so maybe its something to do with 1.5.1

My users have lost the ability to browse offline since the upgrade to 1.52. I am also using the Supermod upgrade if that makes any difference.

Still works on my 1.5.2 boards, too!

Can't comment on the Supermod, but something must be different in your set-up...
