I fixed my problem by setting the actual URL for the ubbc.js... which you already established is the problem

I was wondering why the default was set to the relative path and not the url

It's set to $boarddir . '/YaBBImages/avatars'... meaning it does not work unless you put it off the root.

I misunderstood, and thought you meant to change the url.......... to the web path for the js... not the other way around
