favicon in template?

I want to add a favicon to my yabbse page, but I do not know how to put it in the template, I was also wondering about adding a custom cursor in the template. any ideas?

By default, the browser looks for favicon.ico in the root directory. There's no reason to add it to the template.

Whether that's universal, I don't know. IE certainly does it. You may want to add:

<link rel="Shortcut Icon" href="favicon.ico">

Into the <head> of your template though too, just in case other browsers need to be told.
