conversion corrupted by YaBB SE, how to recover?

Hello I attempted a conversion today (my old board was on a different server and that didn't work)... since the browser stalled I had to force quit / terminate and whatever the converter was doing it must have corrupted by YaBB SE installation because when I have reloaded the page I got this error:
2: Unknown modifier 'T'
(/home/virtual/site372/fst/var/www/html/forum/Sources/Load.php ln 121)
I have then downloaded my old board's files from the old server and uploaded them to the new server and re-did the conversion, which except for one error about not finding the news.dat file (which was there though) worked smoothly. But even after the conversion I still get the error above and my new YaBB SE won't work... can somebody tell me what to do or send me load.php to [email protected] so I can try replacing it? Thanks

What version of PHP are you running?  Was the conversion successful.  What version of YaBBSE are you running?  Did you use Compuart's new convertor found here? http://www.yabbse.org/community/index.php?board=132;action=display;threadid=18377

wow that was the quickest response ever!!!

I used the converter linked from the DOWNLOAD page (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/yabbse/converter.zip?download) I don't know if it is the same one you mention.

I have installed YaBB SE 1.5 and was converting Gold SP 1.1

I have PHP 4.2.2

Like I said right now I am dealing with my YaBB SE which got corrupted more than with the actual conversion's outcome, I will deal with that later.

Ok, I would guess the problem is you used the convertor on the download page.  It is not designed to convert to version 1.5.1 but rather to 1.3.1.  Use Compuart's convertor which I posted in my prevfious reply and convert into build 42 posted in the second post of this thread.

I admit I am a little confused but I did now re-do the conversion with the converter for 1.5.1 (even though I have 1.5.0 I believe) found in your first reply in this thread and the conversion went smooth, except for these errors:

Importing Boards

Warning: file("/home/virtual/site372/fst/var/www/html/forum/old/Boards/News.dat") - No such file or directory in /home/virtual/site372/fst/var/www/html/forum/converter.php on line 639

Importing Topics
File /home/virtual/site372/fst/var/www/html/forum/old/Boards/News.txt not found

which are strange because both news.dat and news.txt are there...

also in step 7 I got:

Warning: Failed opening '/home/virtual/site372/fst/var/www/html/yabbse/Settings.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/php/includes:/usr/share/php') in /home/virtual/site372/fst/var/www/html/forum/converter.php on line 994

but the point is and remains that after the conversion I still get this error:

2: Unknown modifier 'T'
(/home/virtual/site372/fst/var/www/html/forum/Sources/Load.php ln 121)

I believe that my YaBB SE got corruupted the first time I attempted the conversion from remotely and I had to close the browser because it crashed... I still believe the best thing would be to try to replace Load.php if somebody can email it to me at [email protected]

But I gladly accept other suggestions. Thanks.

Did you ever delete your previous conversion attempt?  If not that may be part of the problem, you must delete your yabbse tables and files.  Then do a clean install of version 1.5.1.  Then you can do the conversion.  Make sure news.dat and News.txt can be read by your webserver, chmod them to 777 to make sure.

I just installed EVERYTHING from scratch! New MySQL database, new install of 1.5.1, new conversion with the latest converter and 777 to all files in the Board subfolder of the old installation but I still get these errors:

Importing Boards

Warning: file("/home/virtual/site372/fst/var/www/html/forum/old/Boards/News.dat") - No such file or directory in /home/virtual/site372/fst/var/www/html/forum/converter.php on line 639

Importing Topics
File /home/virtual/site372/fst/var/www/html/forum/old/Boards/News.txt not found

Both the files that the converter doesn't fine are MOST DEFINITELY THERE and chmoded 777.

Other than that everything went OK, I just seem to have lost the NEWS board!!!

Anybody have any good ideas???

Also I have noted that all the Boards that had no posts says there is 1 post but really there isn't (and there wasn't on the old one either)... this might be a bug in the converter.

The other problem I have noticed in the conversion is that the counts of the number of Members and the number of posts is lost but I fixed that by using the "Recount All Board Totals" in the admin page.

I am a little disappointed to have lost one Board but I must say I am very impressed. You guys are genius and I am glad and proud to be a supporter and user of YaBB SE!

Glad it worked except for that one board.  Does SP1 have a repiar boards feature, maybe one of the files was curropted before the conversion.
