Why not make mods in diff format for unix users? We have the yabbpack which most authors hardly ever use and we have boardmod. Boardmod is very inconvenient to use if your servers are remote, at least with unix. Most unix web servers do not have X11 stuff installed, or if they do it is very hard to run a GUI on a remote server sitting in a web hosting environment (firewalls, bandwidth, etc.). At least with a diff format, those using unix servers would be very easy to apply the mod with the unix standard patch command.... that is if you have a shell account to your web server.

Just my opinion, thanks for listening :)

I think that in YaBB 1 Gold, at least, BoardMod was designed to be used on your local Windows machine on files existing on your local hard drive, which you could then upload to your server to replace the old file.

Personally I find the package manager extremely useful, and am disappointed that more mod authors don't use it. I actually won't even use a mod if it can't be applied through Packman.

I agree, I find the yabbpack's very useful too... they are just hard to find ;)
Maybe I could write a script that converts boardmods to yabbpacks... or diff's in my spare time :)
