Remove Posts Bug?

Possible YabbSE bugs ?

1)   Under Admin Maintenance Controls, I removed all posts older than "0" days, which basically removed all my posts and I started again with an empty board. Ok that is fine.

However, if you then go to the Members List, all the members are listed along with the numbers of posts and the bar chart graphic.  I was expecting to see zeros but all my members had their original number of posts showing which is incorrect since they all were removed.

Is this by design?

I think if you remove posts, the total number of posts should be reflected on the Members List page, no? Otherwise it looks really screwy and then there is no way to manage those numbers on that page.

I also noticed that the Members Stats page also shows the old posts numbers throughout under Forum History and Top 10 posters. Again, I think if you remove the posts, these numbers ought to reflect that or how on earth can you control the numbers. They will just grow and grow and grow and.....

2)  Also, under position in the Members List, everyone is blank with the exception of me which says Administrator. Shouldn't Moderators be listed, etc.... ? Maybe not but if not what should be listed there?

Try doing a "Recount All Board Totals" in the Admin Maintenance Controls.

I tried that but that does not correct the totals on these pages. The numbers are still wrong.

Anyone?

Yes, this is by design.

The idea behind the remove posts from x days is to do cleanup.  Thus it doesn't lower post counts.

Also removing a thread does not lower post count, only removing individual posts.  I think there was a mod to change this though.

So then how do you manage the numbers that keep grwoing and growing?

This is sort of funky. Should be changed I think.

Why, if you had 1000000's of posts a day and had to do a clear out out once in a while, you wouldn't want your members to loose their post count would you?

If you want to reset the post counts then run a query to set them to 0.

Either way its not a bug..

Maybe not a bug but not a good design either  :(

There should at least be a viable option to reset these numbers without having to run a query sorry.

Post it as a mod idea, as for this thread moving it to feedback.

Yes it is by design. For the exact reason already stated in that say you decide to prune some messages, why should the members post counts drop?

Now, that isn't to say that someone may find a MOD useful to adjust members post counts...

I'd also been wondering about deleted posts still showing in Forum History, did a quick search before posting and found this. It's quite obvious on my forum (which is tiny) because I have been known to post things myself for test purposes then delete them. While I understand from this thread that the continued presence of such posts in the Forum History seems to be intentional, I find myself half hoping that no-one else reads my stats centre and starts asking what happened to the missing posts (which no-one would ever notice in a big forum)!
