2. Will there any data lost of some modification to my board when upgrading from 1.41 to 1.50?
3. Any precaution before upgrading?

4. I am now using boardMod..but what version should I use?
5. I always get error " can't search string" when using boardmod. Why? I 've try lots of other mod. But always got this problem. ( I choose the correct YabbSE1.41)

1) your template should stay the same if you use the upgrade

2) No loss of data, including any modified tables that you have implemented.

3) Back up your sources directory and the database.

4) Cant help with that - there is a boardmod SE, but I use 2.5 (i think)

When you next try to implement a mod  -why not post your problems here - we may be able to help you correctly install it.

Usually you should ask on the thread that announced the mod.

Hope that helps.

Tony.

PS the correct board to ask this question is on the 'Other Help' board.

Re: 5

All mods should install cleanly to a fresh board

The more mods you install the more you will find search errors as the core code is changed. I tend to try installing mods in different orders e.g.

When a mod fails with a search error, I uninstall all and load that one first, generally if i keep going like this the vast majority install fine and I am usually only left with one or two to install manually.

Hope it helps

do you have PHPMYADMIN?

Andrea has a link here somewhere -maybe in the FAQ section that has a detailed  backup/restore.

if you cant find that I have a backup tutorial

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tony.reid200/

I have never botherd to show the restore as Andreas one is a lot better guide.

I would make a backup of the template file.
Saving it to your local drive would also be a smart idea.
