Well, DCForum really crunched the other night. I don't blame it. We had over 6,000 topics in the text-delimitated database and we get 1/2 million web site page requests per month. So, I quickly installed YABBSE, which I had been looking at along with other packages, and switched. Wish I could have converted the old threads, but I guess I'll just index the html threads in an htdig search engine database. The html threads are a big plus with search engines. My static DCForum html threads are heavily indexed by Google and generate a lot of page requests.
A nice to have would be a good e-mail address validator for user registration. I just had one member register with an e-mail address of 'E.' There must be plenty of routines out there that check the address the member enters. In fact, now that I think about it, believe I recall that OSC (
http://www.oscommerce.com/) has one. I'd do it myself if I knew php well enough--I'm working on that.
The YABBSE install was the easiest script install I've ever seen. I've already started doing some customization and I like the templates. My readers are happy. My Wife of thirty years says it's cool and that is has a very clean appearance. That is big vote as she isn't much of a computer person and rarely finds anything computer interesting. It is extremely fast right now. Thank you and congratulations on a very fine achievement! You saved the day here. Been up most of the last two days with this. Larry
