Hi, everybody,

has anybody ever planned to use YABBSE in conjunction with Microsoft SQL-Server. Is it possible? Are there any kown issues with Microsoft IIS?

Greetings,

Perhaps (and since I'm not on the dev team this might not be the case) YaBB SE 2 will. I've heard it will be more class based, so it will be easier to implement database functionality for other databases, such as Oracle, MSSQL, and perhaps even Access.

However, this is entirely the choice of the developers, who may wish to remain entirely with mySQL.

I wonder what the new slogan would be... PHP, mySQL, oracle, MSSQL, Access. What more do you want? ::)

Hi!

It's not especially the MS SQL-Server! I meant, it would be nice to have a standarized interface to any ODBC-compatible database, wouldn't it?

For SE 2 we already have several classes for different databases.

I believe we're at 4 databases supported now...

Looks like 5 to me, or 5 that are being worked on, at any rate. Sybase, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL, and mSQL, that's really cool. Congrats to Mephid and whoever else worked on them for putting all those together, it'll be cool to have such a variety of options for SE2.

I just said Mephid at first, because he was the only one who's touched them in the CVS, but then I figured it was very possible other people had worked on it as well, so I amended my post. ;) Looks like he's really cranking out some work, wish we had a few like him to help out on Y2. :)

Yep, him and Compuart are coding machines so far :) Once this damn template parser is compete I expect to see a lot of work done with 3-5 full time coders going.

I'm testing YaBBSE on an webserver with IIS and have no problems.

the only difficulty was to convert my yabb gold board to YaBBSE :-\.
But it works fine now! :D
if anybody has questions on it: feel free to ask!
