The worst case scenario...

I'm a php newbie on a Mac. (And I ain't gonna give up my Mac so don't suggest it ;) )

I have installed YaBB SE 1.41 after a short struggle and thought I had this all figured out. But when I get the converter to load (after re-saving through Dreamweaver due to Mac linebreaks...) I have to call it up as either .php3 or .php4. All of the forms pop up at once and some of the code peeks through. I know this can't be good.   I've included a gif to show what I get. Oh and it IS the new converter posted today (8/16).

Thanks in advance.

That is the new converter (posted 8/16). I was trolling through the boards earlier and found it.

Ands the picture is as close to success as I got. Usually I get :

"The attempt to load:  Accessing URL: <insert URL here> failed."

It may be the way my host has the server configured? ???

Thanks again.

Back again...  ;)

Okay, I was able to finally get the converter working. Since the file was too big for SimpleText to open I had to open it in a word processor (AppleWorks) and save as "Text." Uploaded it, chmoded to 755 (rwx,r-x,r-x just in case I screwed up the numbering...) and then called it as site.com/yabbse/converter.php?step=0

WOOHOO!

Then I crashed and burned at Step 4. Everything was cool and groovy up to that point. No errors. I even called up MySql and as far as I could tell thru PHPAdmin all was good.

Then I tried dumping the cgi board to Yabbse just to cover my tracks. Same deal. Fails to load step 4.

:'( help...  :'(

"The attempt to load:  Accessing URL: www.sixshootercomix.com/boards/converter.php?step=4 failed."

I've double-checked my directory paths and I _should_ be okay on that front. And just in case it was a CGI directory problem I dumped a copy of YaBB into my HTML directory and chmoded it all to 777 and I get the same error.

I'm wondering if there might not still be a PC to pre-OSX Mac conversion problem. Could I get you to post just an unzipped text file of the converter? MacZipIt and Stuffit both convert line breaks into Mac line breaks ( >:( grrrr...) and that always seems to throw some kinks into whatever scripts I download (or it could just be me... ;)).

Thanks again.
