Quotethe YaBBSE developers saw fit to include an activex script on the new version of the message board. This activex script apparently loads MSN Messenger just like a similar script on the hotmail.com web site. This activex script forces a surfer to make a decision. Either enable activex or put up with a massively annoying warning popup stating that activex is disabled on every single page of my forums. Microsoft, in an effort to force users to enable activex, hard coded that irritating popup into Windows, so there is no way to avoid it short of giving in.

Thank you no.  Keep your DISTRactivex to yourselves.

So take it out, it's in the template and in the Subs.php file in a function called MSN.

To save everyone from digging through the 1200+ lines of code, the function in question starts on line 1179 and in the template it's <yabb msn> inside the Head area.

Question. Did it never occur to anyone that A.) it is very annoying to have an application load on its own and B.) that people would have to put up with either an unwanted app loading or a very annoying prompt depending on browser settings?

Hi thatguy, glad you like the newsletter.

Not at all - Jeff and I had final say - we could have removed it.  The blame is all ours ;)

I, personally, would make it an admin option with deafult of off in YSE 2 - like one of the thing in the installed mods and settings panel :).
