After installation and after starting a new topic, I got this error message:

The code from line 59 is something your mod added in post.php

         $requestBlog = mysql_query("SELECT COUNT(*) FROM {$db_prefix}topics WHERE ID_BOARD=$board AND ID_MEMBER_STARTED=$ID_MEMBER;") or database_error(__FILE__, __LINE__);
         $blog_total = mysql_fetch_row($requestBlog);
         if ($blog_total[0] >= $modSettings['blogmod_maxblogsperuser'])

            fatal_error($txt['blogmod13']);

I have YabbSE 1.54 (modded)

fixed error query in Post.php
fixed String not found in ModSettings.php
made "Re: subject" not show on blog boards

Now it doesn't make error messages anymore for me.

But... it does not work.

If I click on "post comment" and I type something in all boxes - no comments are displayed after this. (No comments yet is displayed in the window).

If I make a SSI-Listing with index.php?action=blog_ssi;board=2;threadid=2 for example, clicking "comments" and "post comments" leads to an error message "Blog not found."

You can see this for yourself if you click on your own testsite: http://www.monkey-pirate.com/php/test/includetest.php

*sigh* I make stupid mistakes
i added a column in blog_comments table right before releasing 0.9 and forgot to include it in the dbmod file
its weird that the core blog system was working fine before i added more features to it :P
thx for testing help, amango

anyway, v0.92 is released, changes:
- fixed link error in SSI
- fixed posting error (forgot to include posterEmail field into dbmod)
- guest fields no longer showing to members
- added ip logged image

If you're upgrading from previous versions, drop table blog_comments first and run blogmod_dbmod.php again. There are no changes to the .mod file, so you only need to upgrade the database and reuploaded Blog.php and the templates.

/me hopes this version is finally ready to use...

Another possible bug:

1) In ModifySettings.php - option "Groups allowed to have blog (blank for all)". After clicking "!" and selecting the groups (Adminstrator, Global Moderator...) the field remains blank.

2) After posting a comment the window is not closing. After closing it manually and then clicking again on comment to see it, the now opened window remains "blank". Tested wie IE6 and Mozilla.

guess what, i forgot to include another thing in the dbmod :(
do you think its better if the window closes automatically after posting?

Yes, I think it's useful - you don't end up in making multiple comments, if you press the button more then once. So the window should close automatically.

I wanted to see the demo first as i dont really understand what a blog is (but it looks like fun!)

yes, site has been down since this morning :(
hope it will be up soon

a blog is a web-based journal, it's used for writing everything you want about your daily life, events, etc
it works like this one: http://blog.hyrum.net/ (Jeff's blog), except for the side bar
you can post comments through a popup window, include your blog into your site, etc (read the first post for the features list)

it would be a nice addon for sites that provides forum hosting, like boardnation

I have a problem with quoted text and blog_ssi.

Test it. You'll see, that you can't read anything. I'll have to invert the text with the mouse to read quoted text. Can you do something about it?  :)

version 1.1 is released
the only change is in Post.php (fixed a bug in blog posting permission)
so if you were running version 1.0 before, you only need to uninstall the .mod file and install 1.1 mod file in BoardMod.
and then reupload Post.php

@Spaceman

I tried it, but quoted text remains unreadable. Could you test it yourself on your board? Make a quoted posting on your board so it could be seen here:

Post by: Spaceman-Spiff on July 20, 2003, 01:59:43 PM
the black bg and black text is a bug in YSE, i already talked with Compuart about that
the problem is the code for quote and code tag is something like this (in Subs.php):
Code: [Select]
<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" bgcolor="#000000"><tr><td><table border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="2" width="100%"><tr><td class="code">the nested tables are done because we wanted the quote and code border to work in older browsers (browsers without css support), but forgot to put a bgcolor for the last td, so the background stays black
to fix this bug you can add bgcolor="#FFFFFF" right before class="code" and bgcolor=\"#FFFFFF\" right before class=\"quote\" (2x)

another way to do this is include/make a style class for: .quote, .code, and .meaction
you can either make a new style & colors, or copy the ones from your forum
example: http://www.monkey-pirate.com/php/test/includetest.php

I've been making good progress with the blog mod
you can check here: http://omanga.monkey-pirate.com/index.php?board=27
those stuff will be included in the next version
other stuffs i'm thinking to make:
- recentComments SSI
- blog setting page for each blog (settings include: blog name/title & blog home page)

comments are welcomed
Title: Re:[Done 1.5.1-1.5.4] Blog Mod (07/19)
Post by: amango on July 26, 2003, 02:49:12 AM
I got an error with IE6 if I do this on your site
http://omanga.monkey-pirate.com/index.php?board=27

Click on "comment". The blog-window opens. Now close the blog-window.

Now - do it again. Nothing happens. The window will not open, and the Internet Explorer will give you an "error on this page".

[Edit] I tested it also with Mozilla - it happens the same.

Another question: How can I make the pop-up window with the comments a little bit larger?

Title: Thanks and Suggestions

Dear Spaceman,
thanks for all your work!!
I installed this MOD on my site  (http://www.marianistas.org/comunidad_70.htm) and is wonderful.
thanks again.

I have some suggestios for this MOD:
SSI is really incredible, but our users doesnt know how to code, and how to create their own websites. I would like to offer the possibility of a great customization for your own BLOG. This is my idea:
Include a button close to Reply button (only visible for the owner) named: SETTINGS. Here the user would be able to customize:
- Title of the Blog
- Description
- Favourites links
- Enable/Disable LAST REFERERS (a list with 10 last referer pages)
- Enable/Disable TOP REFERERS (the same above but TOP)
- Enable/Diable LAST COMMENTS (a list with the 10 last comments)
- Enable/Disable Calendar (a calendar in order to select day for read)
(all this information above would be showed for all the readers of the BLOG) as a right column
- Select colors template for the forum for customizing design for make blog!=forum

I thinks this will improve a lot this mod and BLOG's-YaBBSE will come really BLOG's

Thankssssss againnnnnnnnn
;-)

have you seen the screenshot of my last post?

i'm not trying to make a full blog program here
it's meant as a yse MOD. if your users don't know how to include their blog, then people will just have to use the forum to view it
i'm also not going to code a calendar, probably just a simple archive
i probably wont log referers either for the ssi
fav links, descriptions - can be added easily in html in the include page

Sorry, I haven't had much time lately. Hopefully after this week I'll get more time to finish the next milestone.
All I need to do left are:
- to put in stuff into the settings table (new ones are currently hard coded)
- to make 2 new images for [blog activities] and [blog settings]
- to do some final testing

Enigma IS a portal for Yabbse... and I successfully installed the blog mod on a site running Enigma, so the answer is YES.

I took it a bit further and pretty much eliminated the forum, turning it into a sort of content manager, using the blog mod for the comment system..

I found a security hole in Blog Mod. You can display a blog from "all" boards in the forum, even if they are not selected as "blog board".

See for yourself - your own board.

http://omanga.monkey-pirate.com/index.php?board=25;action=blog_ssi;threadid=1544

You can even see hided forums if you just use action=blog_ssi instead of display... I hope you can fix this fast.

sorry for the late reply
i've replied your PM and i'll paste it here too:

No, you can't do this, unless you're logged in as one of the membergroups allowed to access the board

so, its actually not a security bug, just a bug
thx for the report though
i'll fix it in the next version
i've coded quite a lot of changes for the next version, just haven't had the time to put them all together

if you want, try to replace Blog.php with this one:
http://www.immortalshades.com/spaceman/mods/Blog.php_v1.2beta.zip
not guaranteed it will work with 1.1, but worth a try

FYI:  You've got a bad link for downloading the MOD.  It looks like this:

http:..siteurl.../B<br%20/>logmod.zip

It's easy enough to get around but a bit annoying. :)

Security issue:

If a registered user makes a comment in a blog, the e-mail adress is displayed even if he disabled showing the e-mail in his profile.

just have two questions before trying this mod:
* Will the Smart URL mod will work with Blog Mod?
* Can we edit the time when the message was posted?

Thx

I'm sorry if I'm asking for help, but I'm completely new with mods.
First of all I'd like to know, step by step, how to install this blog mod (this one, not a mod in general - I've already read the mod get&install thread but I didn't find it so useful...)
Then I think there's an error in blog.php coding page...
And finally how to start and use it.

Thanks a lot!

If a registered user makes a comment in a blog, the e-mail adress is displayed even if he disabled showing the e-mail in his profile.

it will be displayed if you're an admin...
i dont think its a good idea to display the email address when the user has selected to hide it...

1. I don't know, I've never installed the smart URL mod... if the smart URL mod still accepts old-style url, it will work fine
2. It works the same way as posts in the forum, you can only edit it if you do it straight from the database

1. Upload the blogmod_dbmod.php file into your forum directory and execute it
2. Run the .mod file in BoardMod (you'll need to download the program)
3. Upload the changed souce and language files into their directories and upload Blog.php into Sources directory
4. Create 'template' subdirectory inside your forum directory and upload the content of "template" directory in the zip file there.

what error message are you getting?

Sorry! I wrote this not as a request, it's an security issue in the Blog Mod. The E-Mail adress is shown in the blog even if the registered user disabled displaying the adress. The mod should check this and not display the adress.

your board will become a blog board.
the only difference it has is people can send comments to your posts/blog entries
here's an blog board demo: http://omanga.monkey-pirate.com/index.php?board=27

can i have a link to your forum or blog board?

wow cool! archives that would be so cool.

I dont have problems with the comments anymore. Thanks for the help though. I installed it onto my YabbSE and had the no comment link problem. But then i installed Luna Enigma and installed the blog mod and the comment link works fine.

Everything looks cool and I can't wait to stylize it. I haven't posted anything yet, so i dont know how the current version handles archives. But seeing how your tricked out blogger handles the archives is pretty darn cool. You've pretty much created a full blown blogger. I used Movable Type before. But that thing is really bulky as a standalone blogger. So your blog mod using YabbSE as the backbone is really nifty. MT actually bonked out on me and doesn't work anymore, so i'm ready to use your blogmod as my blogger.

It would be cool if people started making templates for the stylized blog_ssi.php ... if that makes any sense.

So yeah, cool stuff for the next version would be displaying the archive and latest comments like you have it on your site. And if possible an admin panel for the blog owner so they can add links like you have on the right for "friends blogs" and "my projects".

peace

Question...

I want to make my site accessible to members only. So i check the "Dissallow guests from doing anything but register". But what happens then is that the "blog_ssi" is only accessible by members even on an external site. But of course I want that to be accessible to everyone.

Is there a way to make it work the way I want?
