YaBB SE Version: 1.5.5
PHP Version: 4.2.0 to 4.2.2
MySQL Version: 4.0.x
Server Platform: Unix, Linux, or BSD

Problem Description:
before anybody posts that php isn't compiled to use sql, it is listed in phpinfo under supported databases!

i've tried searching through the posts here, and tried a couple of things, but it still isn't working.

thanks for any help..

That error could only be happening if it is either not compiled into php. Or if the was compiled or configured incorrectly.

Talk to your host about this.

i am the host.

it is a redhat 9 machine.

apache 2.0.40 and php 4.2.2 are pre installed and php is built with the --mysql option, so i doubt it's configured incorrectly.

i did have to add mysql, which installed cleanly, along with a client all on the localhost.  it logs in and works.  like i said, everything shows up in phpinfo.php

what is missing?

- btw, the entire error is:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: mysql_connect() in /var/www/html/yabbse/install.php on line 357

That error means that PHP was not compiled with support for MySQL.  Whether it was or not is a moot point; I'm just telling you what the error means and can only mean.

Please try recompiling PHP.  Ensure that you are using the correct sapi or cgi module, please as well.
