Why is the Dev-/Admin-Team sometimes annoyed?

Because we are working on YaBB SE without getting any money from it and some people are just too lazy to read through the boards/faq to find answers on their own, before they start complaining.

Another reason could be, that some users are treating us Devs/Admins like we owe them something.

I have to admit that search feature is pretty cool. although I found selecting search by "phrase" seemed to pick up more words that I look for.

no worries. I was just trying to express how well the search function does work. I guess getting people to use it more often first before asking the question is the hardest thing to do.

So I can sympathize with the admins/moderators when an obvious question could have been picked up using the search feature.

It is probably the least used function on any forum, yet it is the most uselfull!

Even searching doesn't always yield the results one may be looking for. Especially if one has not tried the right combination of words. Mind you, that is not a complaint about the search system whatsoever, simply a plain fact about search systems in general.

Anyway.. if I see that someone else has posted a question that has already been answered, I generally assume that their search attempt was unsuccessful and I try to point them in the right direction if I can do so. I certainly agree 100% that its not the developers' responsibility to do so, and suggest that other non-Dev forum members try to do so as well. That way everyone is happy and the Developers don't have to be annoyed as often.

I use the search all the time.  But sometise others call what I;m looking for something else.

A completed manual with all th finer things done in YaBB SE would be a nice thing.  :-)
