Does this converter work with YaBBSE 1.5.4? I tried it on my machine, and it gave me a parse error on settings.php after about line 40. Has this actually worked on 1.5.4 for anyone else?

Just upgrade from 1.5.1 to 1.5.4 once you convert.  If you use the Yabbpacks, it is a matter of a few clicks, maybe one minute of time total to go from 1.5.1 to 1.5.4

can you give the exact error message so that I can try to fix it.

I'm affraid not. If your conversion goes wrong after all messages have been converted you might get some results by using the 'repair board' function from the admin panel.

Hi friends!
If your old YaBB 1.0 forum is large,
you can't use the php converter discussed above
because of timeouts.

For example, my old forum have about 240000 msgs
and more 7000 registered members...

Let you try my version of
YaBB 1.0 Gold SP1 to YaBB SE v1.5.1 converter
written in Perl.
This converter may be launched from a shell,
and you can forget about timeouts...

Download this .zip archive (8k):

Does this work for a 1.3.1 YaBBGold system??

I'm currently about to upgrade our site that contains 3500 members, 210,000 posts and 19,000 topics.

I'm currently about to upgrade our site that contains 3500 members, 210,000 posts and 19,000 topics.

For what it's worth, I was able to convert mine over to YaBB SE 1.5.4 on a small scale.

The main category (approx. 200 posts) and all of the 160 members w/ four member groups converted fine.

I had a couple of "restricted" categories (only some groups were allowed) that did not convert well.  There are two boards that will not go into the "salvage" board.

The thing I like about YaBB SE is that I could do a test convert w/out disrupting the main board (put that one into maintenance mode for a bit when I was ready, and it converted over very quickly.

You have a much larger challenge ahead.

Good luck!

I could not get my SP 1.3.1 to convert. It converted all of the members fine, but I kept getting SQL errors when trying to convert messages. I finally decided just to stick with the SP 1.3.1. However, I am using SE 1.5.4 on a new site.

Ok, I am upgrading from YaBB 1G SP 1.3.1 to YaBBSE 1.5.1

The site is running on Apache web server on a Unix box.

I have no problems installing a clean SE board, but when I run the converter in "step 5" I get the following error.

QuoteFatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 12 bytes) in /home/webadmin/saturnspeed.com/html/yabbse/converter.php on line 742

I have gotten this error 3 times now. Each time I deleted the database, deleted all YaBBSE files and reinstalled a clean YaBBSE board. Any Idea what I can do to resolve this?

BTW the YaBB 1G board has about 16,000 Topics, and 2900 members.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I need to get out of the 1g hell ASAP.

It sounds like you need to increase your allowed memory size to something higher than 8388608 bytes.  That would be a server issue.

It is kind of funny how that works out to exactly 8 meg.

Too bad i didn't try this last night. I don't think their regular support is on during the weekend. ::)

Well, I got the same mesasage again last night. This time I was shelled into my server while I was running the conversion. I still had quite a bit of memory available.

Any Ideas on how to get around this?

You could always set up apache/php/mysql on your own computer and run the conversion there and then upload the converted board.

I could do that, but it would require rebuilding one of my workstations to be Win2k or Linux. Not a real good option. I would probably go to a different board before I would attempt that.

Why couldn't you use PWS?  Or Apache?

Look at my topic over at:

It might help.
