[Done] Collapsable Category Mod ->v0.4.1X<-

I have recently upgraded from YSE 1.0.0 to 1.4.0, and am extremely disappointed in the fact that I was told back in the 1.1.0 era that collapsable cats would be in the next release (which was 1.3.0).  Well, I went to 1.4.0 and still nothing!

I wrote PHP collapseable cats for my YSE 1.0.0 and now I am screwed and either have to wait or do it again.  I had no settings and had not used a cookie (though I could have added the cookie VERY easily).

So, this has been made (in a way) before, and for those that want a JS version, let them make it...but don't give up on the true work-horse collapsable categories mod that will save on bandwidth and speed up boards.  I look forward to a highly configurable version.  My final input is to NOT use a bitwise setting flag and limit people to 32 or 64 boards, that is just not good.  If you feel this method is best, then use two 64's and up the open-endedness of this feature.

I have seen elsewhere that YaBBSE now supports multiple forums using one db, I dunno what that's all about, I don't see anything telling me how...but maybe that is what people were refering too back in the 1.1.0 days.

The other thing that should be done that would be a variation or an extension of the php collapsable categories should be to be able to pass a showonly=# GET param to not even SHOW the other categories.  One person had described this to me before and I thought it was pretty cool.

I can't get it to work on the 1.4 version, the troubles I find are in the BoardIndex.......
Any help / hints ?

I believe the mod is not yet converted to 1.4.0.. well not for the public at least. I think the guy making the new boardindex will include this mod somehow

Because the one here isn't the mod.  I just hacked it in because I was bored.

First, let me say I have YaBBSE v1.4.0 installed...but I have BoardIndex.php from v1.3.0 on it.  This is because I was getting very poor performance after upgrading and Jeff Lewis suggested downgrading my BoardIndex.php to v1.3.0 until v1.4.1 comes out.

Since I have that BoardIndex.php...this mod installed fine as well.  I made only minor cosmetic tweaks.

However, this and the way another forum works lead me to make a new mod to my forum (which I addressed above).  I have added Selectable Categories.

This is not a mod or anything as I just went in and started editing.  I will likely upgrade to v1.4.1 later and then that time make a mod out of this.

This has allowed me to make the one forum function in many different configurations depending upon where the user is linked to it from or what they want to view.

What I have in place is also installed in addition to Collapsing Categories and everything works together well.  My work also uses a cookie to remember the last state of the layout.  You can view all categories by clicking on the top level node of the view tree links.

I won't be making it for v1.4.0, as I mentioned the v1.4.0 BoardIndex.php has some major problems for many people.  I could make my modified BoardIndex.php v1.3.0 available for download now though.  Its perfectly safe to use with v1.3.0 or v1.4.0 YaBBSE.  It would require you first have collapsable categories v0.4X installed though.  Do you want it?
