Allow/disallow signatures?

Perhaps I've simply missed it, but if there's not a function for allow/disallow signatures on a global or membergroup level, then that would be much appreciated on later builds.

2.x perhaps would be a nice idea, then. ;) A bandwidth saver like that has got to be a bonus - especially as there's already a place available for personal Llamas...I mean, text. :)

it doesnt really save bandwidth, unless the users are linking images from your site in their sig

Yeah.... the new permissions system already covers this to my knowledge.

unknown -

Would it be possible to expand upon what you mean? I've probably overlooked something, but don't see anything apparently listed in the admin center.

As for bandwidth - I expect the new forum to expand a lot over time, so I'd prefer to plan for possible future bandwidth issues - especially as graphics files in signatures appears quite common. Just being a fusspot, perhaps. ;)

i think unknown means that it will be a feature in YSE2

Quoteespecially as graphics files in signatures appears quite common
as i said before, if the images aren't linked from your site, they will be okay (won't count as your bandwidth consumption)

Okay then - if the truth be told I would simply like the option to remove signatures, because they can mess with the look of a site. When I've seen boards where too many users stick big graphics files in their signatures, entire topics simply become advertising hoardings.

The new debate site I'm creating I both hope and believe will expand quite significantly over time. And I would simply hate it if every debate topic viewed as an advertising hoarding.

Fussy, perhaps, but choice would be nice. :)

Not just signatures, this features would also be good looking to Avatar images or normal pictures in the post

I believe there is already a mod for dealing with avatar size. But there's not yet anything to limit signature use, which is where the biggest graphics seem to end up.

One solution would be to make the maximum number of chars allowed in sig something really low... too low to even have a chance to put in an image url, but at least allow them something.  You figure in order to put in an image you need the Yabbc img tag (11 chars in itself), a domain (min 6) and an image name (min 5)... thats 22 for the absolute minumum chars to put in an images and thats if they have a super short domain name and give their image a 1 char name at root.  You could be safe in most cases to limit the sig to 30 chars or so.

Or just make it "0" (unless "0" makes it unlimited then make it "1")

Ah - now that is quite a superb and simple idea - I'll implement it immediately.

Sincere thanks for that. :) :)

There has got to be an easy way to not allow the [img] tags in signatures right?  That's my biggest problem.  I just want a not allow images in signature mod.  Anyone?  ;D
