Hi,

is there a converter with which I can import both UBB Members and Postings to YABB SE?

I don't think there are any converters available at the moment, as it would be quite complicated (I think). The only one around is the one that comes with YaBB SE, for converting from original YaBB. It would be interesting to hear if anyone is making any other converters though...

have you taken a look at the actual converter code?  It is very simple!

I think there might be one, I'd search for "ubb" in this board.

Didn't find anything to do a direct conversion.  Ultimately, my goal is to get from UBB 5.47a to SMF, but a recent version of SE would be okay too.

If I write my own converter and ask my users to re-subscribe, what would be the minimun necessary just to get the posts into the database?  Just stuff the posts into table "messages"?  Or is it important that all the various counts and member-ids be correct?

There will be member ids and stuff you might have to deal with.

Is UBB flat file or MySQL?

You might look for one that converts to Invision, phpBB, vBulletin, or YaBB and see if you can take that to YaBB SE/SMF.

If I write my own converter, does it make any difference if the message ID numbers and topic ID numbers are not assigned in chronological order?

How about messages in the database.  Do they need to be entered chronologically or is random ordering okay?

Random is okay, but it would be much much better if they were chronological.

You can use PHP's sorting functions to do this really easily ;).

Is there a document somewhere that describes the database structure used by YabbSE?  Something that describes what each field is for?  For example, what is field "count" in table "boards"?  It's not a count of posts or topics.

It's whether or not posts count on that board.... (or really the reverse, if it's 1 that means they *don't*...)

There's no specific document anywhere, but I take questions ;).

There's a UBB --> Y1G converter here, but I've never tried it.  You could then convert from Y1G to YSE.  If you do this, I'd like to know how it came out.
