For those of you modifying source code, I am hoping your change aren't too great.  We will be releasing a package to fix a lot of the bugs that have been discovered since release and possiby the best way to fix is to overwrite your files...

Just a heads up!

Well it's just like Y1G.  We can't take into account everyones modded up script!  We'll try to create mods but we've changed so much (as can be expected in early release versions)...

No comment, Godai. ;)

So, one these updates have been released, I have some questions:

What process will we have to use to implement the changes? Are we talking file-by-file backup, upload & overwrite... you wouldn't be considering using the buggy package manager, would you?  :o No, of course you wouldn't do that. Or is it going to be an "update" script similar to the original installer script?

Should we expect to have to take our board offline to update on a regular basis (say, once every couple months) or is this update going to last us awhile, ya think? Just wanting to know what to expect is all.

PS - Does anyone know of a good, easy way to backup your MySQL databases?  :-\

A simple way to back up your database is to create a dump file of the database though phpmyadmin or mysqladmin - something similar as well.

As for the update, we plan on releasing a full package and we've discussed a mod as well so that people can update the files through the package manager.

Well, I think releasiing a bug-fix package is great, much better than individual mods.

or a fresh .zip instalation better for the ones that prefeer to backup database & install all fresh (like me) :P

anyway, modyfing the mods will be cleaner that leaving bugs coz of don't wanting to affect mods... but anyway, almost no mods have been relased, so, i give a 100 to this bigfixes thing :P

btw. something will change in .lng files?

By "full package" I'm assuming you mean a complete new release, as in a new downloadable .zip file...

I think that would be ideal, since at this point I don't fully understand (nor do I have any faith or trust in) the current Package Manager.

hope it gets more stable, but anyway, is a good idea that packages thing...

And this is why we released it as a beta feature.  ;D  Perhaps we should have kept it all back for now...
