500 Internal Server Error

YaBB SE Version: 1.5.5
PHP Version: 4.3.0 to 4.3.3
MySQL Version: 3.23.x

Problem Description:
every time i go to my domain/yabbse/install.php, I get a 500 Internal Service Error

Make sure everything is chmodded properly. I have heard of this happening before, but don't remember what causes it.

I've chmodded everything and I still don't know why it's not working

EDIT:Does the install.php file have to be chmodded?

I got it installed, but I can't view the index file. It also comes up with 500 internal server error

You have chmoded the index.php file to 777 right?

Try running this query in phpmyadmin and see if it fixes it:
Code Select
UPDATE yabbse_settings SET value='0' WHERE (variable='enableCompressedOutput')

Just replace the "yabbse_" with the prefix you used when installing it.

I'm having this same problem, with the same setup. I CHMODed everything, and still no go. What am I doing wrong?

I had to chmod my directories to 755 to get mine working.
