I am not questiong your decision to move on with SMF, it's what you need to do. However there is a fairly large yabbse base that may not want to upgrade.

With that in mind I have a suggestion for you, release YaBBSE as public domain or under the General Public License so others could continue it. This would free you folks up to concentrate on SMF.

Just an idea I hope you give a little consideration to.

It is currently and already open source, you just can't remove the copyright statement.

And further, we will not release it to public domain for someone to take it, add some code and call it some other name.

Are you saying there is nothing in the copyright to prevent someone from taking the code base and continuing to develop Yabbse?
