Server hangs/crashes when trying to convert?

Hi all,
i've a problem with the conversion of a Yabb Gold 1.3.1 board to a yabbse board.
I followed the instructions step by step as written in the topic "how we convert our board" above. It looks very simple.. $:-\$
Whatever I try nothing helps. Every time I get this message in step 3:

When I proceed (against the given advise) the server crashes or hangs for about 10 minutes and after that nothing has changed in the MySQL database.

I checked and dubbelchecked the pathnames, usernames and passwords. When I log on in PHPAdmin I use the same username and PW. The pathnames I use are found by phpinfo.php and I checked it in the settings of the Yabb Gold Board. So it must be OK.

I tried to copy the YabbGold directory in a temporary directroy in the root and even spell WRONG pathnames......I always get the same message.
And I'm using the latest version of the converter (01-02- 2003)
