Conversion help? Driving me crazy!

Whats up everybody?

I've been lurking for a long time, and I've fianlly decided to sign up and make the conversion from YaBB gold to Yabb SE. I run a fairly small board (1000 members) on Yabb gold 1.3.1. It's been fine, but after seeing the improvments on SE I decided to make the switch

I did a fresh install of Yabb SE 1.5.3 and that went fine. I uploaded the converter tool as well with no problems. On trying to convert the board, I ran into some problems and was wondering if you could help me out? On step 3, I get the following errors:

I know the files are there, and the path seems to be correct. could some of my problems be:

1.) Permissions set wrong?
2.) Path is wrong?
3.) Uploaded converter.php in wrong mode?

I've done some searching on here with no avail.

It's been driving me crazy, and I've been trying to solve this problem for the past 2 days with no luck  :-\
Any help would be welcome! My current forums are at:

Thanks a bunch,

Your problem is that you told the converter that the files were in the YaBB folder, but your forum is in the yabb folder.  Make sure you are using the right case, because it IS case sensitive.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the help! I tried what you suggested, but still no luck  :'( Same errors this time.

I'm really at a dead end here! I've tried near everything I can think of with still no luck! I bet it's something simple as well, and I'll be hitting my head when I see what it was!

Double check the entire path.  Actually go into FTP and find these files yourself, and then make sure that the path you are feeding the converter are *exactly* the same, case and everything, for every single folder name in the path.

If you continue to have problems, you could always just create a folder in the path that the converter is looking for, and upload copies of the needed files into that folder.

I'm having the exact same problems. Here are the errors I get (I did not put the proper username in for the SQL access so you could see the path to the converter):

I have even tried using the path with just home and not home2. My YaBBSE 1.5.1 installed to that path with no problems.

Doh!

I just figured it out. For some reason I had the variables directory chmodded to 766. Needed to be at 777. I fixed that and it sorted out my problems. Thanks again for your help! I'll let you know how it goes!

I just tried CHMOD all of my folders in the yabb directory to 777 and it converted with no problems. Now I cannot log in:

I used the forgot password option and it emailed me a new password but I still got that error with the new password.

Good to see I'm not alone in my problems!  ;)

Everything's running smoothly, but now I've run into YET another problem. This time though, It's on my Internet explorer's side. When converting the messages over, my IE times out! I know the converter is working, but it gives me a

I fixed my problem by clearing my SQL Database and reinstalling YaBBSE, then running the converter again. Only problem I have is one board did not convert over but I'll take this to another thread.

YaBB SE takes a lot less bandwidth.

A lot of these are path problems...

perhaps it eats less because of php and mysql using?
seems only the flats files and all perla nd cgi based forums eats more.
though I heard that even php based forums eats a lot, because generate pages every time for every user and don't use cache.
May be I was mistaken or understand something wrong.

PHP forums only eat a lot of bandwitdh if you host enormous files on it or have a million users.

And perl forums could be just as fast as php forums if they are coded properly and use a database like MySQL instead of flatfile. Also the server configuration affects the speed as well. PHP by default is supposed to be an Apache module which means PHP is always loaded up and stays started while apache is on. But most hosts put perl as a cgi interpreter instead of a module which means it has to start and stop perl each and every time you use a perl script. But if they would put it as a module using mod_perl it would be as fast as php and it's forums.
