Conversion Errors...

Hi all!

First off i think YaBB is the best BB ive ever seen!  

I installed YaBB 1 G - SP1 for the first time 2 days ago.
Today I saw this SE version, so I went and got it, installed mysql on my server (it already had apache & php)..
The installation.php script worked just fine for me. i checkmarked the 'Skip this' box at the last step, and got to the page where i could start converting my current board..
But the converter.php bugs me alot, on the 'convert settings' page it gives me:

I dont know what is wrong with this.. any help is appreciated =)

btw. im totally new to mysql.. i wouldnt be surprised if thats where this all begins.. but i dont know how to use it! ive read how-to's on the net so i could set up a user, and made the GRANT settings..

Did you upload the converter.php in ascii?  Also, I received the same type of errors 'cause I didn't chmod my YaBB 1 Gold SP1 to "777" like I told damien.  I had to chmod the cgi-bin and the yabb folder and Boards/Messages/Members/Variables...that fixed it.

i werent sure about if i uploaded as ASCII, so i did it again..
both cgi-bin, yabb, Boards, Members, Messages, Sources, Variables, Settings.pl and the template.html is chmod 777
Damien got a 'directory' something in response, i get 'not a valid MySQL result'..
again, im not sure what the difference is.. if any!?

what if i tried installing the YaBB SE again?
how do i erase the mysql database completely so i can start over?
would it do me any good?

Does your server have phpMyAdmin or a similar tool?  That's what's used most of the time to modify your mySQL databases.

no, where do i get it? and is it hard to install?
another thing crossed my mind.. i got the .zip of YSE.. but now im not sure if i should use the .zip (safe) instead... cause when i do ps -aux | grep mysql i get:

It's also possible that you've got the DB name wrong, or the script hasn't successfully create dthe DB.

If the specified database doesn't exist, it tries to create it - if that failed, the subsequent steps would most likely not work.

Are you sure the database you tried to install into exists? If not - are you able to create it before you do the installation?

well yes i think all that works fine.. if it isnt, wouldnt the installer.php tell me somewhere along the way?

uh.. i tried continuing like a fresh install would..
i filled out the administrator fields, and didnt checkmark the 'skip this' box..

that brought me to a page with this error:
Error: Table 'jogairways.yabbse_members' doesn't exist

i still havent gotten furter...
but if all of you guys just roll on thru this installation/conversion of yabb se, i think its my mysql thats giving me a hard time..

Well first, make sure that the tables exist.  If they do, check in Settings.php to make sure that it has all of the correct login information for the database.
