How YaBB SE is related to YaBB 1 Gold?

YaBB SE was started by Joseph Fung and Jeff Lewis as an independant, PHP and MySQL port of YaBB 1 Gold. It was *not* intended to be a replacement in any way, shape or form of YaBB 2.

YaBB SE is completely independant of YaBB 1 Gold, and will remain so.  It is simply an alternative to a perl and textfile-based solution that was created because a bunch of us wanted to give something back to the YaBB community that has supported the development of YaBB for so long.
