Couldn't pick one, so you just went with "we can't decide", eh?

I like it!  Sounds like my name.

The "meaning" of enigma sounds like unknown... not the actual way it is pronounced.

We threw about a lot of names, trying to fit YaPP and PfaBB together (that was impossible), and even folks at our site came up with some possibilities.

In the end, I decided not to decide. :)

As per dictionary.com, I like this definition the best:

enigma

n 1: something that baffles understanding and cannot be explained; "how it got out is a mystery"; "it remains one of nature's secrets" [syn: mystery, secret, closed book] 2: a difficult problem [syn: riddle, conundrum, brain-teaser]

mystery, secret, closed book...

for an open source portal?

baffling, cunundrum, unclear, unsolvable...

for something that is trying to be a clear solution?

And finally, you have Enigma from the early 90's...

"Sade, dit moi, qu'est ce que tu vas chercher ?" (remember them?  ;D)

I say you keep looking for a better name. After all, people might actually start using this thing seriously as a business solution (hint, me).

Enigma is a cool name, don't get me wrong, but more for some sort of security or encryption software. You're portal and YaBB SE are wonderful, useful, good looking pieces of open source software and deserve a more fitting name.

my two cents...

Well, I don't care what you call it, but it sounds great -- especially with Michele involved, she's done a lot of great work with PfaBB.

Speaking of which, where can I download the most current version? I checked http://pfabb.lunabyte.com/index.php?op=downloads but I only see "Old YaPP files" and "PfaBB Beta code."

Michele if it would be at all possible for you to IM or email this to me I would be most appreciative, but even if you could just let me know here I'd be happy.

Choose the PfaBB Beta Code section.  The latest version is *very* stable, and is based on the 1.5.3 code.  Don't be afraid to swing by the forums over there if you have any questions.
