after using this mod for a day, i thought that i still like the RecentTopics in YSE v1.4.1

why?
because in the new (1.5.1) SSI.php recentTopics, u can get something like:

the same topic can be repeated a few times, which i dont like :|
the current queries in 1.5.1 are quite complex, and i havent been able to make it like 1.4.1 without making big adjustments or nested queries
so i'm back using 1.4.1 version for now...
unless if someone can tell me how to edit the current 1.5.1 ;)

I feel pretty stupid because I am lost you keep saying you do it like the old one but I never had the old one.

I am wanting to display the most recent topics or post on my main site's page which is not inside my yabbse directory. I have no idea what tag goes on that page or where to place the modified files etc to call for this function. Can you explain to me like I am stupid the steps needed to include the recent post on my main site page because I never had a previous version.

I am using ver 1.5.1RC and php4.30 and the latest mysql  on a windows advanced server.

SSI.php is already a built in feature in YSE, this mod just enhances the look
for an SSI.php demo/tutorial, follow this link: http://www.yabbse.org/community/ssi_examples.php
or load the ssi_exaples.php file that you have in your forum directory

Changes in v1.1:
- works for .shtml (read the readme file for instructions)
- "MOVED:" topics are no longer shown
- topic duplicates are no longer shown

I did that after i had written my last post.
I couldn't get it to install as I don't think it is compatible with 1.5, should have looked at that from the start :)

if u're in 1.5.0, u only need to replace the whole recentTopic() function with the one in .mod file
and if u're using shtml, add the 1st change too in the .mod file

I have now looked in the admin section and this is what I get:
YaBB SE 1.5.1RC1
This runs down nearly all my files except one.
Am i running the best version here and if so, why won't this mod install?

i'm not sure what you mean by that
by default, YSE already has an SSI.php recentTopics()
this mod only enhance the look of it

what message did u get when trying to apply the mod on boardmod?

Somehow, the SSI.php was on my server but not on local drive??.
I have now downloaded it and will apply the mod shortly. Thanks Spaceman for your help.
