Brian, C4G does it with PfaBB. I've put an option so you can choose between the standard news page as your home page, or select a page you've created in PfaBB (using XHTML/PHP) to use as a home page instead.

One thing I loved about YaPP was the ability to put whatever you wanted on a page in real-time (no uploaded of files, just cut 'n paste from your fav editor. You can use PHP and/or HTML if you want, you can put MySQL queries in it (my fan gaming site has a Bestiary db done with Page Management). If you have an existing page, you can just include_once it instead of cutting and pasting it in too.

My Bestiary has one Page set up with just an include_once and some Select Case statements to find the right functions in the include file, and $_POST works just fine through it too.

That was the main reason I went with YaPP in the first place, and why I picked it up to keep it going as PfaBB. :)

HTH, Michele
(hey, we're even back on topic!) :)

MY website is not about Lord of the Rings. Just has that theme.  Its about a GUILD IN EVERQUEST.  Some people can't look past their PHP covered nose to actually read my forums to see that.

FYI, PfaBB is moving to a new host tomorrow, so there may be some down time... there may even be a domain name change if I can't get a sub-domain of a sub-domain working. :)

I got tired of all the crashes and downtime at my old host, as did my visitors, so expect some downtime tomorrow while I fix things up, then we should be good to go again!

Thanks for everyone's patience these last two weeks,
Michele

Actually, most YaBBSE 1.5.1 mods work with little to no tweaking, and pfabb.computers4gaming.com is still mostly up.  At least it hasn't been down while I've been awake.

It's down now, and due to an error in my name servers, it'll be down a little while longer as the new domain servers propagate.

Apparently I can't have a sub-domain off a sub-domain, so the new address will definitely be http://pfabb.lunabyte.com.

If you're going thru PfaBB withdrawal, I've set up a temp YSE forum at http://www.computers4gaming.com. :)

You are probably still getting the old site then, the DNS's in your area haven't been updated yet with the new info. If you post there, no one else will be able to see it. :)

After reading ALLL the posts of BOTH the main threads inthe Portal Discussion area I can say I really like Michele and I really wanna try his code out...

I just installed Geeklog yesterday but I love the idea of having something that integrates with YaBB...

Michele if you have the IP of your new host please post it so we can access the pages while the domain propagates...

Also without going off-topic but to answer your previous question about where to move, if you experience problems again with your new host, I would suggest you try the host where I pay, they are great! They are called dixiesys.com and 8-95.com. The two services come from the same people I believe (there have been some company changes lately) so with the first one (on which I am on you have higher prices) and on the second one lower prices, but I got a super huge deal!!!!!!!!!!!!! Check it out if you need a host (I don't work for them ;-))

Thanks Marc... I went with hostforweb.com - they have live support via chat and forums, and they've been very accessible.

For some, lunabyte.com has propagated to their ISPs, but not for me. And from what I've been told, the site was crashing, so I had to replace index.php with a placeholder index.htm until my ISP gets the right DNS info and I can see what's going on.

But... www.computers4gaming.com is up and working, and where we're temporarily meeting to chat a bit, and answer any questions. Guests can post, so come on over there until lunabyte.com starts working for _me_. :)

Ironically, no one seems to think a female can do much of anything.

Keep up the great work Michelle

cheers............

My opinion on it is this...

It's purely a cultural thing.  A lot of girls/women take the stereotype and live with it, which only makes it more popular a belief.

In reality, unless otherwise effected by cultural pulls and trends to be otherwise, a girl can be as good or better than any guy.

The thing is, not many people are who are female.  It's a sad truth.  I wish it weren't so, as well.

And as far as pfaBB..... I really think it's great work.  Looks superb to me.

That was simply I type, I had gathered that you are a female after reading for hours all these posts... Just a typo...

Initially I thought you were an italian male (Michele, with that spelling is italian for Michael/Mike) but I was not disappointed in finding out you are a woman, I really appreciate that there finally is a woman working her ass off in this field (you are the first one I meet - I know some woman web designers, but no coder ;-))...

Actually, I find that very cool and intriguing, so how about a date? Marriage? (How is that for going off topic? let's turn this thread into personals and romance  ;D )

your secret lover (who hopes to become a non-secret lover of your pfabb code too - if it only has the features I am so much wishing for -see my other post- ... don't crush my heart!)  :'(
