First of all, sorry for my english.. :(

Ok, let's get down to business..

This little mod that I write that is making possible that users can upload their own avatars in Profile section..

Size of avatars (in KB) could be changed in Form Preferences and Settings or in Settings.php

Please if you have spare time and will download this mod and test it..

Thanks...

Better move it to Mod Settings, because the Board Settings should not be changed.

fantastic! I tried to make this mod and got stuck in the environment variables. You did excellently! However, in your next release may i suggest that you kick a custom error msg when the user attempts to upload something bigger than the image defined size, else the user may get confused as to why the upload is not working.  Also, maybe you can change the admin control to define width and highth parameters instead of file size. Finally for security purposes, perhaps you can consider allowing the admin define where these user avatars are uploaded.

Thanks a million and more for your efforts on this, I know how hard it was to make this up and it's been a very long awaited feature!

Ahem.. :(
Well, this mod I was writing for about 3 hours.. :)
1/2 hour used for php coding and testing and another 2 and half hours browsing this forum, reading how to make a mod, making mod, trying to make package that works etc.. :)

But, Ok.. :) We will see how forum admins will use this "a very long awaited feature".. :)

I will see what I can do with image control, and other..
You will be notified.. :)

BTW, there is new version of avatar upload..
Now, size of avatar could be changed in Mod Settings

Temp download link

Getimagesize function is a left over from the perl yabb import code structer I believe and as of last reported it did not work as it was expected to. If you go to force width and hiegth in the settings what happened ( this may or may not have been corrected, to date I have not seen any reports saying it had been) is the image was forced to be that width and hiegth unconditionally. So if I had a 100x100 image, and I enabled image h and w and set it to 300 x 300, that image now becomes 300 x 300.

Aha... cool.. :)

Ok, a few questions..

- error reporting?!
(Yes or No) Should users know why their avatar is not loaded?

- custom avatar directory?!
Why?! Is it really necessary? What you get with that? And finally, who makes those directories? Admin via FTP, or mod itself?!

Absolutly the users should know why their avatar was not loaded, you think about it.. you are a typical "not knowledged" user struggling with this "new supposidly cool" web site. You find yourself in a profile edit and try to upload a image of yourself, nothing happens. Well gee, that sucks, let's whine at the webadministrator. Why we are at it, let's go and complain to our buddys about this site.

Custom avatar directory,
1. consider that most of us admins have the yabbse directory chmod'd 750 or lower, and that we dont want our users to file browse the directorys.
2. Why force us to mix user images that we will want to keep track of and delete when neccessary with yabbse avatar images.

Because of those two reasons we should have the user images in a seperate directory that the webadmin would create via ftp outside of yabbse.

Not good.

First I got the file as a winamp file.

Second I couldnt find some of the code that you said to search for.

Can you please send me those files needed to make it run, I have a new board so I dont have to worry about previous mods, I need the modded files:

Sources/Profile.php
Settings.php
Sources/Admin.php
english.lng

Thanks :)

First off, the winamp file. It's default for me, I don't even need to change it, because I run it from boardmod. Run it in Notepad if you will. Second, I had the same problem, all of the steps, it couldn't find the code. Third; those files you need to get from your site, because they have all of the links and all to your site, not his. Hope I helped!
