except for the similies there are NO images in my YaBBImages directory and no help file either in the help directory

Did you specify the full path to the YaBBImages directory during install?

he says there's NO images what so ever. download the safe-mode version and u have access to all the files.  then upload the ones u need.

OK I download the "safe" .zip distro and got the images.
But even in that file ther is no YaBBHelp/index.html

ok i've noticed to that normal install is missing the helpfiles, but i do see the help files in the safemode zip pakage. guess Joseph still has a bit of work to do.

What are the filenames please

If its help.php, thats not it, it should be help.html
