Well, is it? :D

I'm just asking since I know the kinks are still getting worked out, but is it reliable/stable enough to run on a high-traffic site with around 1200+ members?

While I'd assume so (the code is being written as efficiently as possible), it's hard so say without such as test.

I do, however, know for a fact that it will handle the load better than Y1G right now.

lol

I'm quietly confident that YaBB 2 would come out on top (speed wise) if ran under modperl (Which is only a fair since PHP is ran as a service).

As for functionality, well that remains to be seen but Y2 has had a lot of stuff built in from day one, where as SE is just a port of a very reasonably stable old code base with stuff stuck in where it fits which would be a major disadvantage.

Efficiency, well, the old code base would again pose a disadvantage to SE.

"php is better than perl" you cant really compare the two, while there are many similarities to both, they do two different things, PHP is great due to it's simplicity and for RAD. But for a salty old perl dog, I'll still return to the comfort and power of perl.

Don’t get me wrong, I like PHP but I love perl ;D

Hehe not this age old argument ;) Yes, YaBB SE is just a port of Y1G with some extras, I wouldn't compare it to Y2 :)
