Mephisto, install RC39 of the v1.5.1 upgrade over my files, then I'll send an email of the PfaBB versions. You're missing some of the v1.5.1 upgrade changes there.

Chris, what version of YaBB SE are you running (or can you run) now? If you start clean with v1.5.1RC39, then I can send the zip to you too... or you can wait until my site is working again so I can post it.

The upgrade over YaPP .6 with YaBB SE 1.4.1 seems to have a lot of trouble yet. But an install over RC39 (that never had YaPP) should go much smoother.

Ooh, I have an idea... got some web space at my ISP, I'll post the files there for download... gimme an hour or so to set up a temp site. :)

Will post back as soon as I have the zips ready for the both of you.

Dead site.

These are my steps:

Install 1.5.1RC38 - verify working
Update to RC39 - verify working
Overwrite files with pfabb files

Dead site.  Big blank screen.  Nothing at all.  No matter what "op="  I use, I get nothing.

Yes.
(Actually, the db is one from a clean YaPP install, so I ran the queries below the cutoff line for YaPP....)

Did you overwrite your template with the one in the install? Hmm... still searching for a reason... Um, did you delete your cookie after the YaBB SE install? That seems to fix some things with the new cookie format in v1.5.1.

I double-checked the versions of files I put in the new zip with the ones working on my test site (here at home), and they're right... as were the ones on my live site (which is completely down again, btw).

Check in myPHPAdmin in the Prefs table... is "usenews" set to "on?" Did the faqanswer and faqcategories tables get created? You overwrote english.lng and index.php in the main directory, and all those files in the Sources directory?

If you did all that... I'm stumped for now, but will keep looking...

Well I installed it on a RC38 board... nothing loads, my browser times out each and every time.

It only did it after I ran dbmod.php though... so it has something to do with something in the database.

All dbmod does is create two tables and insert ... ack! I found it:

$result50 = mysql_query("INSERT INTO {$db_prefix}prefs VALUES (13, 'everyone', '$imagesdir/faq.gif', 'faq', 3, 'index.php?action=faq', '')");

Should be INSERT INTO {$db_prefix}menu .... not prefs!

Delete whatever it put in prefs (but NOT usenews and usepage), and manually add that line with menu instead of prefs. :)

Then let me know what happens :)

Did not kill my cookie, no, but tried it on another machine that had never been used to hit that server.  No joy.
usenews is set to "on," faq tables created.  Overwrote everything you included a file for in the zip.

After this issue popped up, I used a clean 1.5.1RC38 database.  Loaded 1.5.1RC39.  Ran upgrade.php.  Copied pfabb files, overwrite all.  ran dbmod.php.  Dead site.

That wouldn't cause it to time out when loading... it has to be something else.

I guess it would depend on what it actually did to the prefs file... but there's only a few lines in dbmod.php - did you see anything else that might cause it?

The only lines that should have run were $result46 through $result50... ?

Okay, what I did this time...

Same as before, but I noticed that it seems to not insert everything the dbmod.php tells it to.  Sometimes it gets it right, sometimes it gets it wrong.  I added the missing stuff manually to a clean RC38 --> RC39 install (I have a sql file saved of my RC38 install, btw, thats why I am always upgrading).  Its up, now.

Now I get to see why it is dying on a YaPP install...
